SCAPE deliver high quality student accommodation worldwide; and their facility at Aungier Street, Dublin is a testament to their successful model which offer collaboratively designed facilities with students in mind.

Our landscape consultancy initially focused on delivering a softscape design solution to meet a planning compliance screening requirement. The focus on the softscape arrangement within the courtyard, set at podium level, was considered key for future users to enhance their environment, as well as seeking organic solutions to address localised ‘studio’ screening and reducing the impact of hardscape elements when viewed from the centrally glazed common room.

A collaborative approach with UK based Ab Rogers Design (ARD) and Stephen Marshall Architects was adopted from the outset to ensure the planting set in white contemporary planters offered a focused expression, movement, texture, seasonality and contrast.  A series of site reviews, exploration of sun studies and digital building models, as well as plant nursery visits all formed part of the plant palette selection, which have contributed to a characterful and appealing softscape solution.
