The Nicholas Street ‘greening’ project formed part of the ‘Liberties Green Strategy’ as developed by Dublin City Council in 2015 and the wider enhancement of the Dublin Discovery Trail. On this project, we provided a supporting role to Dublin City Council in the preparation of tender documentation to realise the streetscape improvement works.
The scheme involved the removal of the existing hardscape median along the northern end of Nicholas Street offering an opportunity for greening of the busy city centre route. The median was replaced with a mix of suitable hedging, shrub, herbaceous and bulb planting to provide interest and appeal. A select number of new street trees were also included to reinforce the central tree line.
